It depends on the business, industry etc… Some businesses get exposure and followers on Social Media but it does not transform into actual real business transactions. You need to diversify your Advertising, if you are doing strictly Social Media you are missing a big slice of the market.

  3. These are all good ideas. Can you recommend any particular sites for each category?
I have a relative who has built a successful business with social media promotion of the product, primarily Facebook. After attending a free FB webinar recently and implementing some techniques learned, her business more than doubled immediately.

Hi Shirley, it really depends on your business. Social Media is great, but you have to realize that most people on Social Media are there for another purpose besides getting hit with ads ( its similar to TV ). These are passive buyers and are harder to convert into buyers – you can create great brand recognition, but they are not actively seeking what you have to sell, they are there to talk to friends etc… With marketplace or classified sites people are there with the intention of buying, so you have a higher conversion percentage ( these active buyers vs passive buyers) so you certainly wan’t to be in front of them, whenever there is an opportunity to do so….

  4. These three are great ways to promote your business or your website. Best of all they are free, which is important for start up businesses!
